FAQs

Where can I learn more about the mechanics of staking?

The Radix team have an excellent resource, available here.

Can I stake all my XRD with you?

You can, but we would not recommend it. It is in the best interests of the Radix network that individuals stake widely, to high quality nodes in different geographies, and avoid staking to the top validators.

The Radix Explorer is a good place to see a comprehensive list of your options.

We have identified a number of nodes run by people who have demonstrated their commitment to the community during Betanet and Stokenet who we think would be worthy of your consideration here.

How can we guarantee you will provide a high quality node?

RadUp were chosen by the Radix team to run a validator node for betanet. We used this time to carry out a number of failover tests to ensure we can keep downtime to a minimum. Our node was highly performant, and highly available.

Following the end of betanet, we have maintained a constant presence on the Radix testnet, known as Stokenet. You can see our node uptime here. We are striving for up-time on mainnet comfortably in excess of 99.9% and based on our experience over betanet and Stokenet we feel this is firmly within our grasp.

Following the bootstrapping epoch, you will be able to monitor our node performance here and we will endeavour to provide additional context and flavour around performance via our blog and Telegram channels for those who are interested.

What is the 5-by-5 rule?

The 5-by-5 rule is a concept put forward by the Radix team to encourage stakers to spread their stake across 5 good validators that all have less than 5% of total stake.

If RadUp have > 5% of the total stake, we would encourage you to stake elsewhere for the health of the network.

If RadUp have < 5% of the total stake, we would love you to stake with us. :)

Where are your nodes located?

Given the anticipated number of nodes located in Europe and North America, our plan is to only provision servers in Asia and Australasia. We have made this decision with the health of the Radix network as our only consideration and keep it under constant review.

What hosting providers are you using?

Our nodes will be distributed across data centres belonging to Digital Ocean, Linode and Vultr in an effort to avoid centralisation on the likes of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
